Edward Archibald Smith
I used to list Edward Archibald Smith as a son of George William Smith and Annie Ives, who married 1 Nov 1883. However, the 1901 Census for Smith Cove shows Edward A Smith, b. 16 Dec 1880, as a nephew in the family of William G and Anna Smith. Also, in the 1891 Census Arch Smith, age 10, is listed as a grandson in the household of Thomas and Catherine Smith. However, I think the grouping of names in the 1891 Census suggests that George William (listed as William, age 31) and Annie (age 30)have the children Charles (age 6), Katie (4), Ernest (3), and Frederick (11/12). My suspicion is that Edward Archibald is a son of Alexander William Smith, brother of George William.1

The tall erect form of William A. CLARK will no more be seen on our
streets. He died at the residence of his son-in-law, Geo. H. SIMMONS
on Sunday last from cancer in the stomach. Mr. Clark was in his 77th
year and years ago was one of the most prosperous manufacturers in the
city. The principal lumber firms received their supply of boots at
his factory, but a succession of lumber failures brought severe loss
and some 12 or 15 years ago he withdrew from business on an extended
scale. About four years ago, finding his health failing, he took up his
residence at Lakeville Corner, Grand Lake (Queens Co.). He is survived
by his second wife, one son, Chas. N. CLARK, boot and shoe manufacturer,
and two daughters, Mrs. Geo. H. SIMMONS and Mrs. John EDWARDS. The
funeral took place Tuesday, the services at house and grave performed by
Rev. Job Shenton and Rev. Geo. B. Payson. - Daniel F. Johnson, compiler, New Brunswick Vital Statistics , Daniel F Johnson : Volume 71 Number 1346
